Exclusive: 62 kilograms of cocaine cross Ras Jedir in 11 days, reflecting a clear administrative failure
Customs sources exclusively revealed to our source that Tunisian authorities seized 62 kilograms of cocaine that were smuggled via the Libyan side through the Ras Jedir border crossing over a period of 11 consecutive days.
The sources added that 26 kilograms were seized on January 23, 2026, 6 kilograms on January 31, 2026, and today, February 2, a quantity of 30 kilograms, attributing this to the absence of personnel assigned to inspection duties and anti-smuggling offices.
The sources confirmed that the smuggling attempts were repeated three times within a short period, reflecting a clear administrative failure and necessitating the opening of an urgent investigation and holding the concerned officials accountable, before the border turns into an open gateway to serious security risks.
