Exclusive: Islamic Call Society Accuses Gaddad Group of Misleading the Public, Initiates Legal Action, and Says It Was Burdened with Obligations Exceeding LYD 65 Million
The Legal Office of the Islamic Call Society told our source exclusively that it has initiated legal proceedings against Al-Sahl Holding Group, owned by the Gaddad family, after the company described the Qurji Mall (“First Mall”) as one of its investments, despite the Society’s assertion that the project is wholly owned by the Islamic Call Society.
The Legal Office added:
“We are surprised by the Gaddad Group’s attempt to mislead public opinion. According to official correspondence issued by the Administrative Control Authority, the project was already more than 95% complete before it was awarded to the company. Completing the project was an important objective that the Society had pursued for years. However, in 2024, oversight authorities rejected a request to finance the remaining works with an amount of approximately LYD 33 million.”
The statement continued:
“Available information now indicates that the Society has been burdened with financial obligations exceeding LYD 65 million, to be repaid from the project’s revenues over several years in favor of the Gaddad Group. This matter warrants a formal investigation.”
