Al-Hdhiri: Is the Problem the Availability of Fuel or the Management of the Oil Sector?

Written by: Oil expert Othman Al-Hdhiri

If resources are available and production or imports are ongoing, yet shortages and bottlenecks appear in the markets, then the crisis becomes one of management, planning, and oversight rather than an actual fuel shortage.

Therefore, the answer that citizens are waiting for today must come from the authorities currently managing the oil sector, through providing facts and figures, including: production or import volumes, consumption levels, the reasons behind any shortages, and practical plans to address the issue.

Transparency and accountability are the shortest path to determining whether we are facing a genuine fuel crisis or a crisis in managing available resources.

If fuel exists but does not reach citizens, then the crisis is a management issue. If it is unavailable in the first place, then it is a fuel supply crisis.
