Beneficiaries Die Before Receiving Them, Others Forced to Rent: Airport Road Housing Crisis Resurfaces Amid Government Silence Despite Court Rulings

A number of holders of allocation certificates for the Airport Road apartments confirmed, in statements to our source, that final court rulings issued in their favor—mandating the evacuation of the buildings and their handover to rightful owners—have not been implemented, despite all legal procedures having been completed.

They explained that the issue had previously been followed up by specialized committees formed by a decision of the Minister of Housing in the Government of National Unity. There were also prior commitments from the head of the Law Enforcement Agency to enable them to receive their apartments after Ramadan 2026. However, these promises have not been fulfilled to date.

The affected individuals pointed out that some of the current occupants of these units had already received rental compensation, yet they still refuse to vacate the properties, in clear violation of court rulings. They also noted that most of the original beneficiaries are forced to rent housing at their own expense, while some have passed away before being able to receive their apartments.

In the same context, certificate holders staged protests in front of the Prime Minister’s Office on Airport Road, demanding the enforcement of their legal rights. They expressed frustration over ongoing delays and inaction in implementing the rulings, despite their clarity and the obligation to comply with them.
