Exclusive… After Al-Huwaij Failed to Control Cooking Oil Pricing and Withdrew His Decision, the Ministry of Economy Lifts the Freeze on Oil-Supplying Companies He Accused of Speculation and Hoarding
Sada Economic Newspaper has exclusively obtained a letter from the Ministry of Economy of the Government of National Unity addressed to the Central Bank of Libya regarding the lifting of the suspension on certain companies supplying cooking oil.
The decision stated that the suspension of cooking oil suppliers was based on the fact that some companies had imported the commodity during the first half of 2025, while other companies’ shipments had not yet reached the market at the time the suspension was imposed and were delivered after the suspension.
It also noted that certain brands are being traded by multiple companies importing the same brand. In addition, some companies did not import cooking oil intended for citizens but rather oils for other purposes.
