Exclusive: Central Bank Condemns Storming of Its Headquarters, Holds Ministry of Defence Responsible for Securing the Building, and Disclaims Responsibility for Any Measures Arising from the Incident

The Central Bank of Libya expressed its strong condemnation of the entry of an armed force and other parties into its headquarters and the violation of the sanctity of the Governor’s office in his absence. It said the incident constituted a breach of established institutional and administrative protocols and a failure to respect and safeguard the Bank’s premises.

The Bank added: “We hold all parties involved in or contributing to this action fully responsible for any resulting consequences and repercussions, particularly the Ministry of Defence, given its responsibility for protecting and securing the Bank’s headquarters and preventing any attacks against it.”

The Central Bank stressed that it bears no responsibility for any measures or actions resulting from this entry. It also affirmed its right to take the necessary legal measures to protect its headquarters, offices, and documents, and to hold those responsible for the incident accountable.
