Exclusive: Islamic Call Society Legal Office Says Six Court Rulings Have Invalidated Abu Bakr Al-Tarabulsi’s Board Formation, Alleges a Well-Known Security Body Is Obstructing Enforcement of Judicial Decisions

Our source from the Legal Office of the Islamic Call Society revealed exclusively that six court rulings, including five issued by Courts of Appeal, have been handed down against the formation of Abu Bakr Al-Tarabulsi’s Board of Directors. The most recent is a 2026 ruling by the Benghazi Court of Appeal, which has been issued with an enforcement order.

The source added that a security body well known to all Libyans is obstructing the implementation of judicial rulings and the law due to the minister’s family relationship with Abu Bakr Al-Tarabulsi, instead of enforcing and complying with the courts’ decisions.

The source further stressed that all judgments issued by the Courts of Appeal are binding and enforceable. Together with the applicable laws and legislation, they constitute the legal basis on which the Society relies in carrying out its activities from the capital, Tripoli.

The source also stated:

“We consider all state institutions, including government bodies and oversight authorities in Tripoli, to be partners in any success achieved by the Society, both domestically and internationally. Our approach is based on preserving the Society’s legal status and cooperating with all state institutions in accordance with the law and enforceable court rulings.”

The statement concluded:

“There are those who seek to undermine the Society and plunder its resources for personal interests. Nevertheless, the Society will continue to carry out the mission established by its founders, who were scholars and religious leaders.”
