Exclusive: Ministry of Economy Source Reveals Relocation of General Commercial Registry and Significant Changes in its Operations

In an exclusive statement to Sada Economic newspaper, our source from the Ministry of Economy of the Government of National Unity revealed that pressures on the General Commercial Registry Office led to its relocation from its current headquarters. The Director of the Registry notified the Tripoli Chamber of Commerce and Industry of his move to the new location in front of the Abu Salim Health Institute, in compliance with Article 2 of Resolution No. 103 of 2022 issued by the Council of Ministers of the Government of National Unity, which designated Tripoli as the headquarters of the General Commercial Registry.

The source added that the Tripoli Chamber of Commerce and Industry received a letter yesterday, Sunday, February 11, from Ala Faraj Taamallah, the Director of the General Commercial Registry Office, accompanied by a signed statement informing them not to rely on any extracts from the General Commercial Registry that are not certified by him.

It is worth mentioning that the interventions of the head of the Commercial Registry Department encroached upon the jurisdiction of the General Commercial Registry Office. The Director of the Registry’s refusal to accept this and his insistence on his powers led to pressure on the Minister of Economy and Trade to compel him to dismiss Ala Taamallah and revoke his decision No. 43 of 2024 appointing him to the General Commercial Registry, a decision that was commended by the Administrative Control Authority and praised by the Cabinet in a letter sent by the Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs to the Minister of Economy and Trade.
