Exclusive: Mohamed Aoun Reveals to Sada the Circumstances of His Arrest at Mitiga Airport:” In-Absentia Ruling Without Summons, Now Home Safe and Sound”
Oil Minister Mohamed Aoun stated exclusively to our source:
“I would like to clarify the circumstances of what happened to me today, 13 Rabi’ al-Awwal 1447 AH / September 6, 2025, at Mitiga Airport, where I was planning to travel with my youngest son for a personal matter. What I recall is that there was an in-absentia ruling against me regarding an issue at Zueitina Oil Company.”
He continued:
“When I was Chairman of its Management Committee from 1999 until November 2005, no statements were ever taken from me, nor was I summoned before any judicial or oversight authority on this matter. The ruling was issued in absentia, but I attended the retrial session, defended myself, and my lawyer submitted a clear defense memorandum. The case has been reserved for judgment on September 9, 2025.”
Aoun added:
“Whatever the ruling may be, this is God’s will, and I will accept it because I am confident that I have not and will not commit any wrongdoing against my country, myself, or my family. I am now at my home in Bin Ashour – Tripoli, safe and sound. God is our helper, and He is the best disposer of affairs.”
