Exclusive: The World Islamic Call Society Says Maltese Authorities Seize Land Due to Unfulfilled Obligations
The World Islamic Call Society told our source that Maltese authorities began seizing land owned by the association under a government allocation and judicial rulings, conducting surveying and excavation activities today without prior notice. The action comes as a result of the association’s failure to meet obligations related to taxes, social security, electricity, and salaries.
The association explained that a member of a regulatory authority has unreasonably delayed transferring allocations, despite prior commitments.
The association also stated that it had previously called for compliance with the decision of the President of the Bureau, Khaled Shakshak, to avoid obstructing the association’s interests without cause and to ignore third parties with no connection to the association attempting to influence decisions.
The land, located in the heart of Malta’s capital, was obtained by the association through ownership under an official agreement signed in 2021 between Salih Al-Fakhri, head of the administrative committee, and the Maltese Foreign Minister in Valletta.
The Islamic Da‘wa Association concluded by holding all involved parties responsible for the loss of its overseas properties, following the seizure of Sheikh Al-Shuhada Omar Al-Mukhtar schools in Amman, Jordan, and stated it will report the incident to the relevant authorities.
