Exclusive – Unwritten Orders Put the Director of Trademarks Behind Bars… Al-Huwaij Under Fire

Exclusive sources told Sada Economic Newspaper that the Minister of Economy in the Government of National Unity, Mohamed Al-Huwaij, is the one responsible for the imprisonment of the Director of the Trademarks Office at the Ministry of Economy, Salah Al-Hawali.

According to the sources, Al-Hawali was officially appointed to manage the Trademarks Office, succeeding former director Al-Sunni Masoud Abdullah, who left his position after rumors spread about violations and corruption.

The sources stated that Al-Huwaij gave verbal instructions to Al-Hawali to grant a trademark to Bela Company, owned by Marwan Qaddad, at a time when his cousins, Aziz and Suleiman Qaddad, were preparing to submit a request for a similar trademark under the name Belo. However, the Trademarks Office rejected the application due to the similarity of the names.

The sources added that, following the rejection, Suleiman Qaddad filed an official complaint with the Public Prosecutor against Salah Al-Hawali, accusing him of bias in granting trademarks.
