Newsweek reported on Tuesday that representatives of the Government of National Unity (GNU) are looking to US President Donald Trump to strike a deal that could have profound implications across two continents.
The newspaper indicated that in return, the Government of National Unity seeks to strengthen trade and investment relations, particularly regarding Libya’s massive oil reserves, with an administration known for its deal-based foreign policy.
The newspaper continued by stating that the Libyan authorities aim to solidify security ties and also mitigate large-scale migration of African refugees to Europe, according to the newspaper.
