Pressure on Electronic Payment Systems Disrupts Arab Countries… Libya Quickly Contains the Issue While Telecom Problems Remain the Main Challenge

At a time when the world is witnessing growing reliance on electronic payment services, citizens in Egypt reported disruptions today affecting several payment machines and points of sale, along with delays in processing certain transactions. The situation highlights how electronic systems in various countries can face sudden pressure or technical failures related to telecommunications networks and infrastructure.

Meanwhile, some Libyan banks experienced heavy pressure over the past hours on electronic payment services, coinciding with salary and bonus disbursements and increased shopping activity ahead of Eid, causing temporary slowdowns and limited service interruptions before technical teams managed to quickly resolve the issue and restore services.

Specialists believe that problems related to slow applications and delayed text message notifications are often linked to weak telecommunications and internet services rather than the banking sector itself, especially given the sharp increase in electronic transactions being processed simultaneously.
