Research and statistics Department in the Central Bank of Libya published today the report on inflation for the month of May 2023<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Data released by\u00a0the<\/strong>\u00a0Bureau of Statistics and Census – Ministry of Planning<\/strong>\u00a0indicate that the consumer price index increased by\u00a07.3\u00a0points on an\u00a0annual basis<\/strong>\u00a0during\u00a0May\u00a02023\u00a0to record\u00a0295.2\u00a0points, compared to\u00a0287.9\u00a0points during the same\u00a0month\u00a0of 2022,\u00a0which means that the\u00a0inflation rate<\/strong>\u00a0reached\u00a0(2.5%).<\/strong>\u00a0Hence,\u00a0on a monthly basis<\/strong>,\u00a0the inflation rate\u00a0increased by(0.1%)<\/strong>\u00a0in\u00a0May,\u00a0compared with that of\u00a0April2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

First: <\/strong>Analysis on an annual basis<\/strong>:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The inflation rate during May 2023 increased by 2.5% (on an annual basis) in all commodity groups except for the communication group, the most prominent of which was as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– <\/strong>The prices of increased<\/strong> <\/strong>food group<\/strong>s<\/strong> by <\/strong>3.<\/strong>8<\/strong>%<\/strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

– <\/strong>The prices of<\/strong> <\/strong>other goods and services<\/strong>increased by <\/strong>2.5<\/strong>%<\/strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

– <\/strong>The prices of the<\/strong> transportation group<\/strong>increased by <\/strong>2.4<\/strong>%.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

– <\/strong>The <\/strong>prices<\/strong> of<\/strong> clothing and shoes group<\/strong>increased by <\/strong>2.<\/strong>4<\/strong>%<\/strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

– <\/strong>The <\/strong>prices<\/strong> of <\/strong>heal<\/strong>t<\/strong>h<\/strong> group <\/strong>increased by <\/strong>2.<\/strong>3<\/strong>%<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

– The prices of the furniture and household equipment group increased by 1.7%.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Second<\/strong>: Analysis <\/strong>on a monthly basis<\/strong>:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The inflation rate during May 2023 increased by 0.<\/strong>1<\/strong>%<\/strong> (on a monthly basis), which was due to the slight rise in some commodity groups, which were as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– <\/strong>The prices of <\/strong>food groups<\/strong> increased by <\/strong>0.1<\/strong>%<\/strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

– <\/strong>The prices of <\/strong>health groups<\/strong> increased by <\/strong>0.<\/strong>1<\/strong>%<\/strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
