The Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh<\/strong>, announced during the first regular Cabinet meeting of 2026 a ministerial reshuffle in his government. As part of this formation, the title of Minister of State for Economic Affairs<\/strong> will be changed to Minister of State for Digital Economy and Artificial Intelligence<\/strong>, marking the first time such an experience is implemented within government work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Government of National Unity also dismissed Mohamed Al-Huwayj<\/strong>, who failed to manage the economic file, and appointed Suhail Abu Shiha<\/strong> as Minister of Economy and Rashed Abu Ghufa<\/strong> as Minister of Finance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dbeibeh affirmed that the economic file will remain at the forefront of the government\u2019s work during the coming phase<\/strong>, noting that the Cabinet will coordinate with the relevant authorities to address economic challenges and achieve greater financial and monetary stability, which would positively reflect on citizens\u2019 lives. He also called for adherence to the unified development agreement<\/strong> signed between the High Council of State and the House of Representatives so that all regions of Libya can implement development projects according to the state\u2019s available financial capabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He added that the government assumed its responsibility when it demanded that the Central Bank of Libya halt the disbursement of Chapter Three expenditures for everyone<\/strong>, in order to help the Libyan dinar stabilize, stressing that the government\u2019s priorities are preserving the livelihood of the Libyan people, ensuring salaries, and securing basic needs before any other spending.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dbeibeh also introduced Salem Al-Zadma<\/strong> as Deputy Prime Minister representing the southern region, Mohamed Al-Griw<\/strong> as Minister of Education, Randa Gharib<\/strong> as Minister of State for Women\u2019s Affairs, Salem Al-Alam<\/strong> as Minister of Culture, and Haitham Al-Zahaf<\/strong> as Minister of Youth. Former Youth Minister Fathallah Al-Zeni<\/strong> was also assigned as Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for African Affairs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
