Ahmed Al-Masalati, former media office director at Brega Petroleum Marketing Company and currently head of the media office of the General Oil Workers\u2019 Union (reportedly appointed while on a scholarship in Malaysia funded by Brega), has rejected the claims made by the Libyan Administrative Control Authority regarding Brega withholding data on local production.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He dismissed the findings of the authority\u2019s latest report, stating that Brega is not a production or refining company in the first place, and therefore cannot be required to disclose production figures to the oversight body.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
His remarks have been seen by some observers as contradictory to what is stated in several local and international reports, including reports issued by the UN Security Council and various Libyan oversight institutions, which reference Brega within the national fuel supply and distribution chain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
