{"id":257653,"date":"2026-07-25T23:59:45","date_gmt":"2026-07-25T21:59:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sada.ly\/en\/?p=257653"},"modified":"2026-07-25T23:59:49","modified_gmt":"2026-07-25T21:59:49","slug":"exclusive-after-exposing-corruption-the-response-was-to-suspend-him-head-of-tripoli-port-customs-removed-from-his-position-by-official-circular-from-the-director-of-the-customs-authority-i","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sada.ly\/en\/exclusive-after-exposing-corruption-the-response-was-to-suspend-him-head-of-tripoli-port-customs-removed-from-his-position-by-official-circular-from-the-director-of-the-customs-authority-i\/","title":{"rendered":"Exclusive: After Exposing Corruption, the Response Was to Suspend Him\u2026 Head of Tripoli Port Customs Removed from His Position by Official Circular from the Director of the Customs Authority, Implementing Instructions from the Government of National Unity"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our source has exclusively obtained a decision issued by the Director General of the Customs Authority to suspend the head of Tripoli Port Customs, Brigadier General <strong>Ezz Al-Din Al-Fandi<\/strong>, from his duties and form an investigative committee concerning him, after he publicly exposed the extent of negligence and corruption.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The decision was based on an official correspondence issued by the Minister of State for the Council of Ministers, <strong>Mohamed Bin Ghalboun<\/strong>, following instructions from the Government of National Unity, contradicting statements by <strong>Dbeibah<\/strong> asserting that corruption exists within the authority.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meanwhile, Customs spokesperson <strong>Fahmi Al-Maqouri<\/strong> responded in a statement to Sada Economic Newspaper, saying:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Based on our observations and our review of the video posted on the Sada newspaper&#8217;s page, which shows the head of the Tripoli Port Customs Center explaining the warehouse containing a number of confiscated goods, including pharmaceutical and food products, among others, as well as explaining the storage method and how the warehouse is managed, it is clear that this warehouse contains confiscated goods.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He added: &#8220;Through our communication with the Director of the Tripoli Customs Directorate, Major General Salah Al-Murabit, we went directly to this warehouse. He explained that the warehouse contains food, pharmaceutical, and other goods for which certificates of rejection and non-compliance have been issued by the Food and Drug Control Center, as well as by the Environmental Protection Agency.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Al-Maqouri also said: &#8220;In other words, whenever goods arrive in Libya, samples are inspected. If certificates are issued stating that these goods do not comply with specifications and standards or are unfit for human use, a rejection certificate is issued.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He continued: &#8220;For our part, we store these goods in this warehouse until the company that imported them arrives. Under Article 98 of Law No. 10 of 2010 and its executive regulations, the company that imported the goods is permitted to destroy them at its own expense.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to Al-Maqouri: &#8220;These goods will not enter the Libyan market. Instead, they will be destroyed at designated disposal sites at the expense of the importing companies. Procedures are in place, and we have a dedicated destruction committee within the Tripoli Customs Directorate whose primary role is to destroy these goods on a regular basis. However, some of the companies that imported these goods have not completed the procedures required for their destruction.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He continued: &#8220;As a result, large quantities of goods have been stored in these warehouses, due to the Tripoli Customs Directorate&#8217;s efforts to prevent them from being removed from containers or through other means and to prevent them from entering the market.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He added: &#8220;We would like to reassure the public that this warehouse is not intended for goods confiscated after entering the Libyan market.
