This reflects the weakness and inability of the local market in providing many of the goods and services it needs. It leads to an increase in the degree of external exposure and an increase in the demand for foreign exchange.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" dir=\"ltr\">Foodstuff imports ranked second in terms of relative importance, constituting 11.4%, while imports of chemical products, plant kingdom, and live animals accounted for 7.3%, 6.7%, and 5.7%, respectively.
